Call of duty, black ops 6: in-game items
Role: Art Director & Illustrator
Corsair had the opportunity to produce in-game items for their official collaboration with Call of Duty Black Ops 6 during season one. This task was handed to me to sketch, illustrate and produce the final files to be worked into Call of Duty’s game engine. This project not only needed to be completed in under one week, but needed to involve all brands within the Corsair business - SCUF Gaming, Elgato, Origin PC and DROP.
Tools used: Clip Studio Paint, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects
SKETCHES
Sketches were produced within Clip Studio Paint for initial approvals. The artwork for this needed to be delivered efficiently and quickly in order to integrate all the items into the game’s launch. Therefore, I lead conversations with all brand leads to determine the look and feel with the full intent of 1) including all involved brand SKUs into the assets, and 2) using the skull figure as the overarching “mascot” so that no one brand audience type would take precedence over the other, and so that the assets would still feel part of the COD universe.
RENDERED ARTWORK
With the sketches approved, I could move onto producing final rendered artwork. The style chosen for these items would be centered around a “pop art” look and feel with cell-shading and use of halftone textures. Each brand color would be used to highlight different parts of the artwork.
Final assets included one weapon vinyl, one animated emblem, one animated calling cards, and two static calling cards.
